I’m actually going to have to agree with this point.  As someone who sort of got dragged into playing GTA when Vice City came out, I didn’t think much of it other than running around and causing mass chaos while listening to the public talk stations.  But after awhile, I actually began to appreciate the storyline, though this didn’t happen until I played GTAIV.  Okay, so a lot of it revolves around drugs, money, sex, and crime.  But that’s just how it is.  Once I actually dove far enough into the story, I found myself hooked.
